Shoulder dysfunction is very common with spinal cord injury and can severely limit patients functional mobility and quality of life. Shoulder pathology can begin in the ICU and limit rehabilitation efforts if not managed well. Many occupational and physical therapists in the rehabilitation setting lack the confidence or knowledge to successfully treat the shoulder dysfunction. This intermediate level course is designed to give the rehabilitation therapist the tools and knowledge to improve shoulder dysfunction, reduce pain and help their clients reach optimal functional outcomes.
Kim Ratner, PT has numerous years working with clients with SCI and also a very strong orthopedic background. Therapists attending this course will leave with new tools and layers of knowledge allowing them to help clients in the acute, rehabilitation or out-patient settings.
