Darrell
Musick graduated from California State University at Long Beach in 1989 with a
bachelors degree in physical therapy. He began his clinical specialization in
spinal cord injury in 1991 and is currently Director of Physical Therapy at Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO. He was the clinical supervisor of the
spinal cord injury unit at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, Ca.
from 1992 to 2005. He has over 14 years experience working with individuals with spinal cord
injuries in home and community settings. He has served as adjunct faculty at
Samuel Merritt College MSPT/DPT Program from 1995 to 2004 in Oakland, CA
and has given several lectures at Contemporary Forums Spinal Cord Injury courses since 2002. He
is currently a (contracted)evaluator for Proneuron Biotechnologies with their FDA approved
Phase II study of Autologous Incubated Macrophages with SCI. He is a member of the American Spinal Injury Association.

Adler, OTR

Carole
Adler graduated with a BA in Psychology from San Diego State University and a
graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern
California. She is currently a Rehab Case Manager on the Spinal Cord Injury Unit at
Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and previously was the Clinical Supervisor of Occupational Therapy Services at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California for 20 years. Carole has written
numerous textbook chapters on the OT treatment of SCI and considerations for
Equipment ordering. She has presented
workshops and lectured nationally on all areas of SCI treatment. She is a panel member for the Consortium for
Spinal cord Medicine, Clinical Practice Guidelines and co-authored "Outcomes
following Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury."

Gabriella
Stiefbold OTR, ATP

Gabriella Stiefbold, OTR, ATP is a graduate of
Kean University with a BS in Occupational Therapy and is currently completing
her advanced masters in Occupational Therapy/Assistive Technology from
NYU. She has been working in spinal
cord injury rehabilitation for 9 years and is employed at Kessler Institute for
Rehabilitation in West Orange, NJ as the Clinical Manager of the inpatient
occupational therapy department. She
has extensive experience in the inpatient and outpatient wheelchair seating
clinic and technology clinics. She has
taught the spinal cord injury and wheelchair seating lectures at Kean
University for 7 years, and has presented several lectures at Tai Po Hospital
in Hong Kong regarding spinal cord injuries and OT intervention, wheelchair
seating and Assistive technology. She
is a member of the American Spinal Injury Association.

Laura Wehrli, DPT, APT

Laura Wehrli , DPT, ATP graduated from Temple University with a Masters Degree and later a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She began her career in spinal cord injury rehabilitation at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY. She is currently the Assistant Physical Therapy Supervisor in SCI at Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO. Laura has more than 7 years of experience working with patients with spinal cord injuries in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Laura has given lectures at the United Spinal Therapy Leadership Council Conference and to the APTA SCI SIG at the Combined Sections Meeting. Laura is currently an adjunct faculty member for the University of Colorado’s DPT program and is a member of the APTA.

Management of the Painful Shoulder Following Spinal Cord Injury
| Kim Ratner, BS PT |
|
Kim Ratner is a graduate of Ithaca College with a BS in Physical Therapy and is currently pursuing her MS degree in Healthcare Administration from Seton Hall University. She has been employed at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in NJ for 15 years. Kim began her career at Kessler on the SCI team for 6 years and was promoted to the position of Senior Therapist for the Ventilator Dependent SCI Program while concurrently working part time at a private orthopedic practice. She then had the unique opportunity to transfer into the position of District Manager for Kessler overseeing 28 of their outpatient Orthopedic and Sports Medicine centers for five years. Throughout these experiences she had a simultaneous passion for spinal cord injury rehabilitation, orthopedics and Clinical Education and continuously sought to integrate her knowledge of Neurologic and Orthopedic rehabilitation perspectives into the treatment environment. Kim returned to the inpatient rehabilitation environment in 2003 and currently serves as the Assistant Vice President of Rehabilitation Services for Kessler’s 138-bed Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Center of Excellence, home of the Northern NJ Spinal Cord Injury Model System and the Northern NJ Traumatic Brain Injury Model System, where she currently oversees PT, OT, ST, TR and Case Management. In addition to her extensive experience in the inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation setting she has taken over 40 continuing education courses in her area of specialization. She has presented lectures at several national model system conferences and the 2007 and 2008 Contemporary Forums SCI Conference. |
